Transforming how we connect with our land, our communities, and the world.
GOLDEN LEGACY
CHARITABLE FOUNDATION
Golden Legacy Charitable Foundation envisions a future where the richness of West African land, culture, and people becomes a cornerstone of sustainable living, fostering growth and prosperity for every woman, man, and child.
We aim to inspire and cultivate a new generation of West African community leaders who will lead this transformation. Through interdisciplinary, intergenerational, and intercultural educational training programs, we bridge geographical and cultural gaps within the African community and beyond.
Introducing our flagship initiative: The Cultural Exchange Program. Launched to further women's emancipation in Nigeria, Benin, and Togo, this program focuses on education, empowerment, and economic promotion. Our goal is to provide opportunities for women to celebrate their culture while fostering economic prosperity.
Through the Cultural Exchange Program, we create entrepreneurial opportunities by showcasing artistic talents and facilitating access to advanced markets. Currently, we focus on hair braiding, arts, and crafts.
Our story began in 2022 with extensive field research, culminating in a pivotal meeting in Brooklyn with our founding board member and Secretary, Miss Jennifer Ekeleme. This collaboration highlighted the need for consistent financial gains to achieve a transformative cultural impact. Identifying the hair industry as a robust market, we saw a golden opportunity for auto-financing.
Brooklyn, NY, was chosen as the first location for the Amazon Exchange Program, envisioned as an annual event with potential expansion to other locations. Our search for a permanent base in West Africa led us to Benin and the Queen Hangbé Foundation (FRH), an organization sharing our values and dedication to women's emancipation.
Partnership with Queen Hangbé Foundation
Partnering with FRH was a natural choice. Queen Hangbé, a symbol of the Republic of Benin and a celebrated global icon, inspired our ambition to restore prestige to her court. Despite her legacy, the current bearer of this title lives in destitution. Golden Legacy pledges to fund a market, lab, and apprenticeship space at the royal court in Abomey. This space will empower women to produce, train, and showcase their crafts, continuing the first (original) Queen Hangbé's vision of empowerment.
Golden Legacy is dedicated to reciprocating FRH's support by developing a project that restores the Queen’s Court as a historical landmark and a beacon of women’s leadership. Participants will have favored access to these spaces upon their return home, ensuring long-term impact.
Our selection process prioritizes trustworthy, reliable participants committed to their communities. We pledge to provide a safe environment for skill development, fostering economic, social, and cultural growth. Participants will be chaperoned throughout the program, treated as our very own daughters—bearers of a Golden Legacy.
